2006 Baldy Beach Bash

The Baldy Beach Bash once again started off with cold, wet weather but by 3 o'clock the sun came out and the temperature climbed to 79 degrees, so those who brought their skis were able to launch and ride the Intercoastal Waterway for a couple of hours.  There were some 18 members who stopped by at one time or another at the beach house where Kenny did his usual good job making delicious hamburgers and hotdogs to go with all the chips, fruit, and potato salad everyone brought.  Cookies and brownies were available for those with room left for dessert.
Rides planned for the year were discussed.  No Casino Run has been scheduled due to lack of rooms in the Lake Charles area due to hurricane damage last year.  The Oyster Bayou Ride, scheduled for May 20, will not be held at Gene's beach house as in the past.  Instead, headquarters for the ride will be at the same location as the Beach Bash with the boat ramps at Stingaree's to be used for the ride.  There is a $2 launch fee and two double ramps available.  A $10 fee per ski will be asked with all proceeds going to Gene for his continuing recovery.  There will also be a "Poker Tournament" for a $10 donation.
